A CHIPPENDALE CHERRYWOOD DESK-AND-BOOKCASE, New London County, Connecticut, 1765-1785, in two parts: the upper section with molded broken swan's-neck pediment centering three flaming urn finials above two arched panelled cupboard doors enclosing a fitted interior with two arched shell carved reserves above seven valanced pigeonholes, shelves and four small drawers; the lower section with rectangular thumbmolded slant lid opening to a fitted interior with central arched panelled prospect door enclosing a pigeonhole over a small drawer flanked by four valanced pigeonholes above four small drawers with blocked fronts all over a case fitted with four graduated long drawers, on ogee bracket feet (repairs)--80½in. high, 36¼in. wide, 20¾in. deep
