Lot Essay

This screw tug, built in Tottenville, New York, by A.C. Brown & Sons, ran from 1906 until 1945. Its homeport was New York. Another oil painting of the tugboat Ideal painted in 1906 is located in the New York Historical Society, while a sketch of the tugboat also dated 1906 is in The Mariner's Museum.
