IN THE MANNER OF JEAN HENRI RIESENER

With an eared D-shaped brêche violet marble top above a conforming case fitted centrally with two drawers with a central panel inlaid in exotic stained and engraved woods with a still-life flanked by putti and parquetry panels and two similarly inlaid doors applied with armorial trophies alll divided by mythological figures over a shaped apron centering a blue enamelled sphere applied with fleur de lys flanked by fruiting cornucopia, on leaf-tip cast toupie feet

Lot Essay

The offered lot is a copy of the model Jean-Henri Riesener executed in 1755 and delivered to Louis XV for his private apartments at Versailles, now in the Musée de Condé, Chantilly (See J. Meuvret, Les ÉbÉnistes du XVIIIe Siècle Français, 1963, p. 199, fig. 3)
