The rectangular box and hinged cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl with scrolling lotus within a narrow-line border on each of the four sides and with two slightly larger arched lotus sprays on the lid which are enclosed in a frame of inlaid twisted metal and a further border of circular buds and half-leaves, some of inlaid horn, the latch with lock, metal fittings--13¼ x 8¼ x 7¼in. (33.6 x 20.9 x 18.4cm.), surface wear and old losses, some restored
