A TIBETAN EMBOSSED GILT COPPER PLAQUE
EARLY 15TH CENTURY

The vertical partly ajour plaque is embossed with Avalokitesavara, standing in tribhanga on a lotus, his right hand is stretched downwards in varadamudra, his left in vitarkamudra and is holding a separate molded stem of a lotus which runs behind his elbow to the panel where the lotus continues, wearing a floral engraved dhoti, many bodhisattva ornaments with partly turquoise inlay, his face with downcast expression, urna, smiling lips, elongated earlobes with turquoise inlaid ear rings, five leaf crown with semi precious stones, scrolling lotuses behind, on metal base--18 1/8in. (46cm.) high
