**A RARE RHINOCEROS HORN RETICULATED BELT BUCKLE
LATE MING DYNASTY/17TH CENTURY

The oval plaque well carved in the round in high relief as a large four-clawed, scaly dragon contesting a flaming pearl amidst the surrounding clouds, with a smaller dragon emerging from the waves and rocks which form the lower edge, the clouds on the reverse of ruyi form, with a slotted opening for attachment in either side of the rim, the horn shading from dark to lighter reddish brown
