A DOUCAI-ENAMELED BLUE-GROUND DRAGON BOWL
QIANLONG SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD

The deep, rounded sides rising to an everted rim, decorated on the exterior with two dragons, one in green enamel, the other in iron-red, striding through multi-colored flames in pursuit of flaming pearls against a blue wash ground above a band of overlapping petals, with a green dragon pursuing a pearl in a medallion on the interior, all in shades of green, yellow and pale aubergine glaze and iron-red, burst glaze bubble

Lot Essay

A bowl of this pattern, but with a Kangxi mark, was included in the exhibition, Chinese Porcelain, The S. C. Ko Tianminlou Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 1987 and was illustrated in the Catalogue, Part I, no. 91.
