Applied on the outer case in gilt metal with a monkey, hanging from a fringe of vines, stretching a long arm toward a crab crawling out of water, the inner case inlaid with a crescent moon breaking through the clouds, carved in sunken relief in the wood, a silver-inlaid reflection of the crescent moon applied on the lower reverse--9in. (22.8cm.) high
