EDO PERIOD (LATE 18TH-EARLY 19TH CENTURY), SIGNED NANAJUNISAI TOJU [TOJU, AGED 72] AND WITH KAKIHAN

The rectangular inro designed in takamaki-e in gold, silver and red on a roiro ground nearly covered by kimpun, details in hiramaki-e, kirigane and togidashi, with a scene of people enjoying the blossoming cherry trees by a flowing stream, the interior cases nashiji; fitted with an ivory netsuke carved in the form of famous products of the provinces , inscribed Omori Okoshi and Omori karashizuke Yamamoto, describing a product pickled in mustard and with a coral bead ojime--3in. (7.7cm.) high
