MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY)
Decorated in hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi and murashiji on a roiro-nuri ground with a continuous landscape starting on the top with a flock of flying geese, clouds and a full silver moon, hills on the top shelf, thatched huts under a pine tree on the two hinged doors and a river, bordered by flowering plants, flowing from the upper left lower shelf to the base; the sides decorated with pine and clouds and a river and clouds and the reverse decorated with bamboo and clouds, the reverses of the two doors designed in kinji and togidashi with Mt. Fuji and nashiji clouds and the interiors of the hinged doors and sliding doors nashiji; fitted with mounts of different varieties of plants in gold, silver, copper and shibuichi on shakudo grounds--33½ x 14 3/8 x 32 5/8in. (85.1 x 36.5 x 82.8cm.), edges of doors nicked and worn in patches, edge and surface nicks and small cracks
