14A 150 MOMMEDAMA SILVER AND BRASS INLAID MATCHLOCK MUSKET
THE BARREL PROBABLY 18TH CENTURY, SIGNED SESSHU SHIMAYA KI HACHIRO SAKU

The tapering, 46.17 caliber, octagonal barrel is set with fore and aft slot sights and terminates in a bulbous muzzle with a braided copper wire collar. The base of the barrel is inlaid in copper, silver [one piece missing] and sentoku with horses sporting below branches of flowering cherry. The single piece stock is decorated with cut and engraved brass furniture depicting peonies, a hare, helmet, the Three Friends in Winter (pine, bamboo and prunus), minogame and flowerheads. Cock and frizzen pan cover missing.
