A SHINODA IRON TSUBA
LATE EDO-MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY), SIGNED SHINODA HISAKATSU AND WITH GOLD HON SEAL
Slightly oval and with lipped rim, the migakiji guard is decorated with a man holding a sake saucer in which is reflected Mt. Fuji (Haichu no Fuji), all executed in dark shibuichi, shakudo and gold; the ura is decorated with a carved view of Fuji with silver snow at the peak, signed Shinoda Hisakatsu with gold hon seal, height 8.3cm.
