A three-quarter-length standing portrait of the popular composer inscribed on the upper portion with two bars of music (titled "'Madeleine'" and "'Natoma'"), and on the lower portion of the image: "Sincerely yours Victor Herbert Febr. 1914." The quotations are from his grand operas "Natoma" (1911) and "Madeleine" (1914).
