Lot Essay

The composition of this drawing is related to two paintings of 1874, La cuisine chez Piette, Montfoucault and Une fileuse, intérior breton, Montfoucault (L. R. Pissarro and L. Venturi, nos. 276 and 277). The artist divided the motifs in the drawing between the two paintings. The fully-rendered manner of this drawing is similar to Barbizon school technique.
