A letter concerning his plan to invest in munitions firms in light of the worsening world political situation: "...[I] agree with you that Money is better than hopes. But I almost lost interest in both ten days ago when I got a bump on the back of the old bean in polo that all but sent me over the hill....I hope you got my letter about the munitions stock it would be a real pleasure to me to make money out of war the way every one says we do...Did I ever mention in my letter about war stocks that in the event that you cant buy munitions stock to an advantage, copper or steel will probably be good and if unfabricated there is no inhebition [sic] on our shipping them abroad into rotating bands guns etc. Blessed are the pure in heart..."
