ROCKEFELLER, JOHN D. Partly printed document signed ("JD Rockefeller") as President of Standard Oil Trust, countersigned by HENRY M. FLAGLER and J.A. Bostwick, [Cleveland], 22 December 1883. 1 page, oblong folio, accomplished in manuscript, elaborately engraved and printed in two colors with a decorative border and vignette of the United States Capitol building, 1899 cancellation stamp at upper left corner, signed on verso by the holder, Fannie Freeman, a few light spots at one fold, otherwise in very good condition. A STANDARD OIL TRUST CERTIFICATE. An attractive certificate for ten shares of the Standard Oil Trust, organized in 1882 but dissolved under the Sherman Anti-Trust Act (enacted 1890) and broken into 34 units by a 1911 ruling. H.M. Flagler (1830-1913) is best remembered for his railway empire in Florida.
