An unusual mortgage bond of $500 denomination, issued and sold in New York during the period of Santa Anna's exile while Juarez was President of Mexico. The Victor of the Alamo certifies he will repay the capital amount with interest, the loan to be secured by "several pieces of property" amounting to some 378 square miles in the state of Vera Cruz, plus other lands on St. Thomas and in New Grenada.
