The sides and bottom of the rectangular box painted in colours with scenes of rural leisure, reserved on the pink ground within moulded rocaille cartouches enriched in iron-red and peach, the top with figures beside a ruin and a castle at the shore, sailing ships in the background, reserved on the white ground within puce and pale yellow rocaille cartouches enriched with gilt, the interior finely painted with a mounted traveller asking directions of two figures seated by the side of the road opposite the ruins of a castle, top and bottom a marriage, chip to lower left corner of cover, surface wear
