A pair of virtually identical candelabra in Schloss Fasanerie, Fulda, is illustrated in P. Julien, 'Fasanerie', Connaissance des Arts, November 1965, p. 110. The design of the candlearms with their scrolling foliage, spiralling serpent and flambeau finials relates to designs for girandoles from the 1780's (see H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, 1986, vol. I, p. 266, fig. 4.9.5 - 4.9.6). A related bras de lumière by Andre-Antoine Ravrio supplied in 1804 for Fontainebleau is illustrated in J-P. Samoyault, Pendules et Bronzes d'Ameublement entre sous le Premier Empire, 1989, p. 131, fig. 97.
