A PAIR OF LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED BOIS SATINÉ AND TULIPWOOD COMMODES
circa 1775, one stamped n petit four times, the other n petit jme three times
Each with D-shaped cipollino verde marble top above a frieze drawer applied with foliage and entrelac above two drawers mounted sans traverse flanked by similarly mounted cupboard doors, the drawers and cabinet doors centered by foliate and garland-cast chutes on turned tapering legs and cap feet

Nicolas Petit had a prosperous shop at the sign of 'Le Nom de Jésus' in the faubourg Saint Antoine. Amongst his best clients were the duc d'Orléans and the duc de Bouillon.
