The arched back and bowed seat with loose cushion covered in crimson cut velvet, below a ribbon-tied cresting of roses, the frame carved with trailing foliage and guilloches, on stop-fluted turned tapering legs headed by rosettes, the underside inscribed in ink R475 and indistinctly inscribed..... cabinet

Louis-Charles Carpentier, maître in 1752

This exceptional bergère which is decorated completely in the round, can be attributed to Carpentier on the basis of the distinctive carving found on the side and back seat rails and which appears on a suite of seat furniture stamped CARPENTIER now in a private collection.
