A CONSULAT ORMOLU-MOUNTED MAHOGANY COMMODE
circa 1800, stamped jacob frères rue meslée
The rectangular fossilized black marble top above a frieze drawer fitted with a fall front with inset leather writing surface and two drawers, the interior iwth an engraved plaque COMMODE DE LA CHAMBRE DE LA MARECHALE NEY above two further drawers, the lowest drawer formerly fitted and with base locking mechanism, the drawers mounted sans traverse and centered by a harp within a laurel wreath flanked by pilasters with herm-head capitals above a square plinth on paw feet
