Lot Essay

This painting was executed circa 1865-70. The sky area was reworked later by Corot, and under ultra-violet light examination, there is evidence of a cluster of trees.

This painting has been examined and authenticated by Martin Dieterle, and will be included in the fifth supplement of the catalogue raisonné on Corot by M. Dieterle and André Pacitti.
