The model, depicting the mythological heroine, is typical of Manship's inventive modern design based on antique prototype. The exquisite patina and jewel-like chasing, characteristic of Rudier foundry work, are further evidence of the sculptor's reverence for the artistic and technical lessons of the Renaissance.
