Todd, killed at Baton Rouge, 4 August 1862: "We first found the ankle...I had the men continue towards the head & as it came from the ground I seen...the knee, hip, a few pieces of ribs, elbow, shoulder blade, his scalp come out in four pieces, his jaw bone showed but two front teeth left in it. I am satisfied that everything remaining in the grave of your long lost (but not forgotten) brother, is in this child's casket..." (2)
