[ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT]. BOOK OF HOURS, Latin, unknown use. Manuscript in Latin. [France, 15th century]. Illuminated manuscript on vellum, 95 leaves written in brown, red and blue ink in a gothic textura, illustrated with 4 LARGE MINIATURES WITH ¾ BORDERS AND 13 SMALL MINIATURES WITH ¼ BORDERS, numberous one- or two-line initials in burnished gold with white tracery on blue and/or red grounds, line fillers in blue, red and gold with white tracery, rubricated. 185 x 124 mm. (7 3/8 x 4 7/8 in.), 16th-century vellum wrappers, lacking spine; miniatures overpainted with substantial flaking of pigment, lacks all other miniatures and an undetermined number of leaves, with loss of text, the remnats possibly misbound, darkened and stained throughout, large oily stain at end (affecting 8 of the small miniaturs.

Early French ownership inscriptions on inside front wrapper, dated 1541, 1586 and 1621, all entered by women.
