A COTTON AND SILK-ON-LINEN NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, signed Rachel Judith Tabel, 1838, worked in red, blue, green, brown, pink and ivory threads in various stitches with a grape vine sequence above a central flowering plant in an urn flanked by wrought birds, crowns, bouquets of flowers, over a central urn with flowering plant flanked by trees of Life and a pair of figures representing Adam and Eve above the wrought identification, "Rachel Judith Tabel Her work Aged 10 Years AD 1838", the whole within a meandering vine and flower band--22¼ x 21in.
