The molded arches at the joint of the arm and support as well as the flaring back legs and upholstered back of this chair are characteristics seen on a labeled Churchill lolling chair in the collection of Winterthur Museum illustrated in Montgomery, American Furniture, the Federal Period (New York,1966), p. 162-163, no. 116. Two related chairs from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Nicholson sold in these Rooms, January 27 and 28, 1995, lot 1149 and 1150.
