This vehicle represents one of the few remaining examples of the "Baby Stutz" fire engine. These 350 gallon per minute combination pumpers were promoted as "The biggest little piece of fire apparatus ever built."

Harry C. Stutz had decided to enter the fire engine field in 1919 after leaving his original firm and prior to founding HCS automobiles. The Stutz name guaranteed an easy entry to fire department and city officials nationwide and the Stutz Fire Engine Company continued to build quality apparatus until ceasing production in 1928.

This particular fire truck had been converted to a wrecker, possibly by Mr. Miller, but retains much of its original equipment such as its pump, pressure tank, some hose and some ladders as well as the original bell, sirens and spotlight. It originally saw service in the community of Allenhurst, New Jersey.

There is light surface rust over much of the truck but most of the original gold leaf striping is intact and this fire engine has the potential of being restored into an attractive, compact and unusual piece of fire apparatus which carries a rare and distinguishd nameplate.
