The rectangular stepped top above a gilt decorated enamel inset panel supported by four enamel and engine turned columns decorated with classical arms and armour, all surrounding the clockface and works in a glass case, the clockface signed T. Kirkpatrick, New York and the works stamped Made in France, Japy Frères & cie, Med. d'honneur, atop a conforming stepped base
