THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY, IN THE MANNER OF ANDRÉ-CHARLES BOULLE
Each with an ormolu-mounted circular top with a triangular end inlaid with foliate scrolls, bellflowers, musical trophies and fantastic architecture above a circular brass cuff and a frieze applied with blue lacquer lappets inset with masks and fitted with a drawer, on splayed similarly inlaid legs headed by finely cast female masks ending in foliate sabots joined by a shaped tripartite stretcher centering a roundel, on a spirally fluted tapering foot

Lot Essay

The offered lot is similar to a pair of table made for the Duchesse de Bourgogne in 1701 for the Ménagerie with four others, for a total cost of 6,400 L. Now in the Victorian and Albert Museum, they are described in the Royal inventories under the number 727 (See A. Pradêre, French FUrniture Makers, 1989, p.69, fig.15)
