Maison Alphonse Giroux & Cie, located at 7, rue Coq-Saint-Honoré, was well known as a magasin de tabletterie et ébénisterie. Founded in 1799 by François-Simon-Alphonse Giroux, the firm was subsequently turned over to his sons Alphonse-Gustave and André in 1838. Although the firm was well established by this time, having received a medal in 1834, it was expanded considerably by Alphonse-Gustave. In the 1839 Exposition des produits de l'industrie française, the firm was awarded a second medal in recognition of its development. The shop was moved to 43, boulevard des Capucines in 1857, where business continued until 1867, when it was turned over to Duvinage et Harinckouke. (See D.
