Inscribed: "On the third day of the second month, spring of gengxu year if the Hongzhi era (1490), [I] visited my old friend Bao'an (Wu Kuan, 1435-1504), who handed me some paper and asked me to paint for him. Therefore [I] followed the style of Xu Xi and asked him to teach" Signed: Shen Zhou
