A DECORATIVE STONE AND HUANGHUALI TABLE SCREEN, XIAOZUOPINGFENG
17TH CENTURY

The unusual 'dreamstone', possibly a stalagmite section, with beige-pink and burgundy inclusions against a creamy white ground, the circles and swirls reminiscent of eyes or of mountains and rivers, the stand formed by two plain feet surmounted by vertical posts flanked on either side by standing spandrels, the posts joined by a plain panel with a beaded, elongated oval aperture above the plain apron
