A SMALL WHITE JADE CARVING
19TH CENTURY

Of irregular wedge shape, carved on one side with a scene of fisherman in a boat and on shore in a compound, with a pine tree carved at one corner, willow trees carved on the reverse and flowering plants on the top, the base carved with an inscription, the white stone with added russet coloring; together with two white jade pendants, 18th/19th century, one of oval form, carved on each side with a dragon and phoenix contesting a pearl, the other rectangular and carved on one side with a bat and a prunus branch, the reverse carved with four archaistic characters

Lot Essay

The inscription on the pebble may be translated, 'Picture of the western bamboo fence', and the characters on the pendant may be translated, 'The bibelot of owner with refined heart'
