A PAIR OF JADE-MOUNTED CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE HANGING BASKETS FILLED WITH JADE AND HARDSTONE FLOWERS
LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY

The tapering body of each basket divided into six lobes and inset with a green jade plaque pierced with dragons confronted on a white jade shou medallion, below blue and turquoise-enameled lotus sprays on the shoulder and above a base pierced with foliate scroll bands and decorated with a band of blue-enameled petals, all below a wide, everted rim pierced with lotus scroll and with a galleried border, the upright handle cast with foliate scroll rising from a pierced medallion from which issue the branches of various flowers in jade and hardstone, including convolvulus, chrysanthemum, prunus and others; each suspended by a bat-mounted hook from a gray jade disc suspended from an elaborate hardwood and boxwood stand
