A MOTTLED GREEN AND LAVENDER JADEITE FLATTENED BALUSTER VASE AND COVER

Carved in low relief on one side with two birds perched side by side on a gnarled, blossoming rose branch, the reverse depicting a grasshopper on the leaf of a graceful millet stalk, both scenes within raised outer borders, the outer edge corresponding to the lobed corners of the spreading foot, neck and mouth rim, with a pair of lion-mask and loose- ring handles, the cover surmounted by a Buddhistic lion seated with one paw resting on a ball, the semi-translucent, pale greenish-white stone with areas of pale lavender coloring and splashes of bright apple green
