Depicting a woman possibly of Persian type, her face modeled with small, pointed chin, small mouth with upturned corners, fine, slightly hooked nose, prominent cheekbones and deep-set eyes covered in thick black pigment beneath brows delineated in fine, black brushstrokes against the pink pigment of the skin, wearing a long cowl falling in graceful folds and neatly framing the forehead where it is pulled back by an ochre ribbon tied in a bow in back, its pattern of lotus sprays painted in green, red and blue reserved on a dark brown ground, her patterned robes worn over a white undergarment, some flaking of pigment
