A PAIR OF SMALL LEMON-YELLOW-GLAZED SAUCER DISHES
YONGZHENG SIX-CHARACTERS MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE SQUARE AND OF THE PERIOD

Each dish finely potted with gently rounded sides rising to an incurved rim, covered inside and out in a faintly mottled opaque glaze of bright lemon-yellow tone stopping short of the shallow ring foot and white-glazed base, one with small rim chip and associated hair crack

Lot Essay

There do not appear to be any other yellow-glazed dishes of this size and shape with this particular mark published. A pair of small yellow-glazed dishes of this shape bearing a Kangxi mark (11cm.) and another pair bearing a Qianlong mark (9cm.) were both included in the exhibition, Chinese Porcelain, The S.C. Ko Tianminlou Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Urban Council of Hong Kong, 1987, illustrated by Ayers in the Catalogue, Part I, nos. 140 and 143
