Walter Johnson played his final major league game on the last day of the 1927 season, the game in which Babe Ruth hit his 60th homerun. In 1928 he honed his managerial skills as manager of the Newark Bears, his only year in the minors. This lot is a shellacked baseball signed by twenty members of the 1928 Bears including Walter Johnson, and star hitter (future Hall of Fame umpire) Jocko Conlon.
