Lot Essay

According to Conner and Rosenkranz, Nocturne, was cast in 1920 in an edition of approximately 25 bronzes. In 1926, Korbel reworked the model and there are at least 13 examples of the second version. The present bronze, from the original edition, is a prime example of the artist's experimentation with various patinas and finishing techniques.
