Lot Essay

According to ancient Greek mythology, Briseis, the slave-girl to Achilles, was lost to Agamemnon in the Trojan War. Manship portrays Briseis, saddened as she is being lead away from Achilles.

This model was cast in two sizes, the present size from an edition of approximately nine, and a larger version in an edition of three.
