The following portfolios by Ansel Adams (lots 83-86) come from the collection of the late Irving W. Robbins, Jr. Robbins was a long-time Honorary Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts at Stanford University, adviser on rare books and collector of photographs. A friend of Ansel Adams, he focused on literature of the American West and purchased these portfolios directly from Adams in both San Francisco and Carmel. These prints have survived in near pristine condition. In order to preserve their state, special care will be taken at the viewing. Please refer to the department.

San Francisco: Privately published, 1948. 12 gelatin silver prints. Each signed and numbered sequentially in pencil on the mount; portfolio stamp and numbered in red pencil on the reverse of the mount. Each approximately 7½ x 9½in. or the reverse. Signed and numbered in red pencil on the colophon with list of plates. Numbered 63 from the edition of 75 (10 reserved for E. Weyhe, N.Y.). White folding case with black lettering and ties.
