La Hounaye requests a promotion to Captain in the Gendarmerie for Citizen Eysrich, Captain in the 3rd regiment of Hussards, explaining that "some infirmities from the war and personal reasons have made him desire this position for a long time...[R]ecommendations...permit me to assure you that the Corps of Gendarmerie will profit from his presence..." In a characteristic hand, Napoleon simply signs "Bonaparte" in a blank portion on the right of the page.
