YOUNG, BRIGHAM, 1808-1877, Head of Mormon Church. Letter signed ("Brigham Young") as Governor of the Territory of Utah, to A.H. Babbitt, Secretary of the Territory of Utah, Great Salt Lake City, 28 October 1854. 1 page, 4to, blue paper, Young's signature a bit faded.
Seven years after the mass migration of Mormons to Utah, Brigham Young gives cryptic instructions to the Secretary: "I have not had time to see you about the House but you are at liberty to keep the house according to Contract, and put on what repairs & expand whatever you please, or none at all. I shall put no repair to the house. I am going out of town today & shall not have time to see you..."
