SENATOR DAVIS RECOMMENDS A NEIGHBOR FOR AN APPOINTMENT
Davis writes: "Permit me to present Mr. Geo[rge] D. Williamson formerly of Mi[ssissip]pi who desires employment in your bureau. Mr. Williamson has been recently engaged in Rail Road construction and will offer to you evidence of his capacity to be useful. I think you will find him an intelligent, industrious and aggreable assistant should you find it consistent to appoint him. Any kindness shown to him will be thankfully acknowledged..."
