The firm of Edwards and Roberts was established in 1845 and grew throughout the following decades until by the 1890's they occupied numerous premises in and around Wardour Street. They became known primarily for their very high quality reproductions of eighteenth century pieces, but they are also known to have handled and stamped antique furniture as well. The firm went out of business in 1899 (F.Collard, Regency Furniture, 1985, p.102).
