Lot Essay

Family tradition states that Timothy Carll was the original owner and possibly maker of this bedstead. Various members of the Carll family and the Platt family, with whom they intermarried, were woodworkers. For further discussion on the Carll and Platt families, see Dean F. Failey, Long Island Is My Nation (New York, 1976)p. 227, 252, and 271.
