Lot Essay

The maker's mark, G crowned, is that of an unknown maker whose work appears in Jen Huvelle, ed., L'Orfèvrerie en Hainaut, Anvers, 1985. A sugar bowl and tea caddy by this maker in related rococo style is illustrated, along with this mark, on pp. 84-85. The mark is also recorded in R. Stuyck, Belgische Zilvermerken, 1984, no. 4945.
