A EWER, maker's mark of Peter van Buren, Zwolle, 1706, vase form on spreading circular molded base, the lower body with strapwork, applied with mid-band, with leaf-clad reeded flying scroll handle, the flaring rim with mask below spout, marked near rim, 7½in. (19cm.) high

A BASIN, Maker's mark of Peter van Buren, Zwolle, 1706, oval, with molded rim, marked on reverse, 18¼in. (46.3cm.) long

A CASKET, Maker's mark of Peter van Buren, Zwolle, 1706, rectangular, on four baluster feet, with molded rims, and hinged cover, marked under base, 9in. (22.9cm.) long

A DRESSING GLASS, Amsterdam, circa 1700, maker's mark VM? in a heart, rectangular, with bolection molding, applied with leaves at corners, the marquetry backing with silver furniture, marked on four corners, 17¼in. (43.7cm.) long

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Bemmel of Belgium, probably as borne by one of the daughters of Martin-Philippe van Bemmel (1685-1765), receiver of customs of the state of Brabant (see Baron Stein d'Altenstein, Innuaire de la Noblesse de Belgiquei 1883, pp. 112-115.
